2014 VW Design Contest

The video game is a simulation, with different degrees of realism. The driver of a video game car can feel a lot of the sensations of a real driving experience, including vision, noise, vibrations, and physics reactions of the car. But he will never be able to directly and physically interact with it. All the sensations come from electronic devices, as the screen, or the joystick.

So, a video game car only needs the essentials features. The binnacle inside the car is useless, the driver only needs cameras and a driving interface : the video game console. A car without binnacle is useless in the real life but pertinent in a video game, because it makes the car more efficient (shorter, lighter and more aerodynamic) without changing its function.

RRC1 is a concept of very small racing car without embed driver for time attack races. The car is build around its electric engine and its battery, with a centered and very low center of gravity. The cameras give to the driver the exact point of view of a driver of a real car, in addition to a "bumper" camera which is a legacy from the video games. The electric engine gives to the car a strong linear acceleration in a short to medium distance, which offers a unique driving experience to the driver.
